FAQ

Questions, answered.

What commercial dive contractors ask before they move their records and crew ops onto Bowline Pro. Pricing and cancellation terms are stated plainly here, not buried.

Bowline Pro, Brief and Reef

Everything buyers ask

What kind of record does Bowline Pro produce?

A record built around evidence quality. Depth, time, status, and sign-offs are entered while the dive is happening, by the people doing the dive, on a device the supervisor has in hand. The original record is preserved. Any amendment requires authentication, a stated reason, and Admin approval, logged with who and when. The kind of record an insurer or defense counsel can rely on six months after the fact.

What does chain of custody mean here?

Three things together: the original record is never overwritten; every amendment is authenticated and logged with who, when, and why; and the whole package, original plus amendments, exports together. If a record is questioned in an incident review or a contract dispute, you can show exactly what was captured at the time, what was changed later, and why.

Can my clients see my records in real time?

Yes, through Bowline Brief, a paid add-on to your Bowline Pro subscription. Brief gives you a branded portal you can invite your customers (operators, EPC contractors, marine clients) into. They see only the records you share with them, read-only. You pay for Brief; your clients receive access by your invitation.

Is Bowline Pro for recreational diving?

No. Bowline Pro is built for commercial dive operations only. Every diver attached to your operation does get Bowline Reef, a personal dive logger, bundled free with your Pro subscription, so they can log their own open-circuit, rebreather, or freedive activity privately.

Can commercial divers log their personal dives privately?

Yes, through Bowline Reef. If their employer subscribes to Bowline Pro, Reef is free for every diver on the roster; otherwise it is $9.99 a month standalone. When a diver connects to an employer on Bowline Pro, only their current decompression status is visible to the Ops Manager. Locations, buddies, photos, and personal dive details stay private, and the log travels with the diver across employers.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The app captures everything offline on the boat, including depth, status, and sign-offs, and syncs automatically when you are back in range. It is designed from the ground up for remote dive sites.

Can I see all active dive teams on one screen?

Yes. The Ops Manager dashboard, available to the Operations Manager and Admin, shows every team across every site: who is deployed where, pre-dive state, topside live view of active dives, pending sign-offs, expiring certs, equipment service and defects, gas blend tracking, and messaging tied to the job.

What happens in an emergency?

Emergency response is built in. Press and hold the Doctor or DAN buttons to escalate immediately. The app surfaces the nearest hyperbaric chamber from a maintained registry and routes the incident through a structured workflow that captures the timeline, the standby diver deployment, and the people involved. The incident record exports alongside the dive record.

Who can change a record after it is signed?

Amendments run through a structured, authenticated workflow: a diver or supervisor requests a change with a stated reason, and the Admin holds final approval. The original record is always preserved alongside the amendment, and the amendment log is included in any export.

What happens to a diver's log if they leave the company?

The diver keeps a portable, lifetime log they own through Bowline Reef, included free while their employer is on Pro. Your operation keeps its own complete history of every dive that ran on your watch.

How is this different from a digital logbook?

Digital logbooks record the dive after it happens. Bowline Pro captures depth, time, status, and sign-offs during the dive, then preserves the original record alongside every amendment. It is purpose-built for commercial dive teams, where the record needs to hold up months or years later.

How much does it cost?

Bowline Pro: Pro Solo $99/month (1 site, up to 4 divers), Pro Small $349/month (up to 3 teams / 10 divers), Pro Mid-size from $899/month (up to 6 crews / 50 divers), Pro Large from $1,999/month (up to 20 crews / 200 divers), Pro Enterprise on request. All billed annually; month-to-month is available. Bowline Brief starts at $49/month. Bowline Reef is $9.99/month standalone, or free for every diver attached to a Pro org.

Is there a contract? Can I cancel?

Annual plans are billed upfront for the year. If Bowline Pro is not right for your operation, contact us within 14 days of your start date for a full refund. Cancel before your renewal date and your plan runs to the end of the paid term; your records remain exportable at any time.

How do I start?

Pro Solo signs up directly. For Pro Small and above, book a 20-minute demo and we will set up your teams. Divers attached to a Pro org are enrolled in Reef at no cost on first sign-in, and Brief can be added at any time once you have an active Pro subscription.
